How to Make Stuffing With Fruitcake
Whether cooking for an intimate party of friends or for the whole extended family, this recipe can easily be adapted to feed a gathering of any size.
- 1 9-oz. Mini DeLuxe® Fruitcake
- 4 Cups of Bread
- 2 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 Cup Chicken Broth
- 1 Cup Chopped Onion
- 1 Cup Chopped Celery
- 1 Tsp. Kosher Salt
- ½ Tsp. Dry Rubbed Sage
- ½ Tsp. Tony Chachere’s Original Creole Seasoning®
DeLuxe Fruitcake Stuffing Recipe:
Crumble one Mini DeLuxe® Fruitcake into quarter size chunks and place on a baking sheet.
Cut eight slices of Pecan Bread into 1” cubes and place on a baking tray. Evenly distribute your crumbled fruitcake and cubed bread, so there is no overlapping.
Place your crumbled fruitcake and cubed bread mixture in the oven and bake for roughly 8 minutes or until they are toasted and lightly golden brown.
While your stuffing base is toasting, medium dice the celery and onion.
Once toasted, remove your bread and fruitcake from the oven and combine in a large mixing bowl.
In a large pan, melt 2 Tbsp of butter over medium heat. Sauté your veggies in the butter until the onions and celery have released all their moisture and the onions have become soft and translucent.
Transfer sautéd veggies to your toasted bread bowl. Mix to combine.
Sprinkle your dry seasoning mixture over the toasted bread and veggie mixture. Toss thoroughly, so each cube of bread is coated with the seasoning.
Pour 1 cup of chicken broth over the bread and veggie mixture. Once again, mix thoroughly to combine.
Transfer your seasoned bread and veggie mixture to a medium-sized baking dish.
Place the baking dish back in your 350-degree oven. Bake for 20 minutes or until deeply golden brown.
Remove stuffing from the oven. Let cool slightly before adding it to a serving dish or tray.
